Have you ever observe yourself that why you are backache in this time, or why your back are so hunch or so arch than before? While the past you have no problem about your back or have but not hard like this time, particularly for office girls sit at the desk all day, for housekeepers work hard, for nurses care patients. Those kinds of work and career are the major factor which affects to back’s health and character so much.

 

We can prevent and protect these problems by adjust our characteristic and care about back health. Simply start by checking that your back is straight and naturally balance or not. In which, you can see yourself in the mirror or close your head, shoulder, and back at the wall try keeping your ears, shoulder, and hip in the same line in every movement while doing activities or working, for your good back health and smart characteristic.

 

Nurse, physical therapy, old people caring is the career needed both mind and body to take care patient in hospital. Help support other body, and moving sick people are the work that exert with wrong or unsuitable posture may get hurt or ache easily and result to unable to work at full capability. Therefore, when moving the patient from bed to wheelchair or carry and support them, please remember that

 

  1. Try maintaining your back to be straightening as possible, even you are carry, support or look after the patient.
  2. When moving patient from a bed to another bed, pull and catch the bedspread under the body to save your force and minimum annoy the patient. If the patient is very close to and use more force, try flex the knee on the bed to make the back straight and low forcing on the back partly.
  3. When carry the patient from the wheelchair/chair, move you foot in front and little flex the knee, then carry the body by putting your hand on patient’s arm and holding around the patient’s waist. While carrying, let the patient hold your shoulder or waist to prevent falling, except the neck that may causing the sprain  or injury occurred
  4. When carry or hold the patient from the floor, sit on one heel and use one knee to keep the weight and flex another knee 90 degree, then lift around the patient neck and shoulder up. This method help keeping your back straight and push carrying the patient easily.

 

Office girl sitting at the desk for a long time, keeping and seeking the document all the time, if you always have some backache or feel stiff about the shoulder, try checking your sitting and working that

  1. Sitting posture is correctly or not. Sitting at the desk up to 6-7 hours a day, the lovely chair with the back can save you from backache and hunching back. By sitting close to the backrest and keep the shoulder, back, and hip aligned. Space between your body and the desk suitably, because too much space or far away from your desk make you bend in front too much and make you hunch easily. Try adjusting the elbow and the finger in horizontal level, also can help.
  2. Bend down to pick up or seek the document with proper pose or not,  in the case that you always bend down your back often while working, that make an backache happen certainly. The accurate posture is, when you want to pick up or seeking the paper which lower or higher than, should turn all body, hip and leg to that direction. For seeking or keep the paper on the lowest drawer, bend down and use one hand to support your heaviness on one leg.

 

Housekeeper sweep all day is the work simply face an ache feeling and backache, because of the force out to keep everything clean and neat as much as possible. The manner which risk for an ache and bad character are

  1. For sweeping, brushing, cleaning the object on shelf or over your head, should not stretch out your arm because it increase the pressure on the backbone and waist, use the chair or fixed ladder to make your body stay higher is better. And for sweeping or cleaning in the hard reached place such as under the bed or the closet, let yourself lower and use one side of knee to support your weight while flexing another knee perpendicular, and let the force come out from your whole body not only the arm.
  2. For arranging the things out, do not resist carrying the heavy thing especially for keeping the thing over your head such as bulk of newspaper, document. Should estimate your ability before carrying, divide into small chunk for the heavily object, and use your arm and leg exert not your back. Pull in the stomach to keep your back straight.
